On August 4th, 2007, a ceremony was held to unveil the Virginia Historic Highway Marker at the mill. The Marker was donated by the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution(VASSAR) and paid for by the Society's Knight-Patty Trust Fund.

The event was attended by over 100 people including Zirkle descendants, County Supervisors, representatives of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources and interested historic preservationists.
